Hiking in East Tyrol around Obertilliach

Some wonderful family hikes which are also suitable for active children invite you to discover the mountain world. With the aid of the cable cars you can go up the local mountain, the Golzentipp, quickly and comfortably. You take the Golzentippbahn from Obertilliach and from the top station, matt green alpine meadows lie before you. Along easy paths, passing the picturesque Jochsee, you reach the summit (2,317 m). A few play stations along the way will make the hike worthwhile also for reluctant hikers. Another popular hike leads up the Steinrastl summit (2,184). On mainly shady forest paths you hike up to the summit.

Do you like it a little more challenging? Then the Carnic High Trail from Obertilliach is just the thing for you. It runs right along the border with South Tyrol/Italy. Remnants of the dark days of the First World War can still be seen in places. Experienced mountaineering families will also find via ferratas for sporting challenges in the region around Obertilliach. Mountain sports enthusiasts can also let off steam in the nearby Dolomites with the Three Peaks as the highlight. Here, too, there are family-friendly hikes lined with huts, meadows and playgrounds.
